Major Breakthrough: 37 Maoists Surrender to Telangana Police, Including Key Committee Leaders


Hyderabad, November 22, 2025:
In a significant achievement for the Telangana Police, 37 Maoist members, including senior leaders and committee-level operatives, surrendered on Saturday. The surrender took place under the guidance of the Director General of Police (DGP) and senior officials, marking one of the largest mass defections in recent years.

According to police reports, the surrendered cadre include members from various Maoist divisions such as the State Committee (SCM), District Committee (DVC), Area Committee (ACM/PCM), BK-ASR Division, and Tirumalapur KM Division. The group consisted of both men and women, aged between 17 and 49 years, who were active in Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and border regions.

Top Leaders Who Surrendered

Among those who surrendered were two high-ranking Maoist leaders:

Koyyada Sambayya, alias Azad – State Committee Member, involved in major decisions and armed operations.

Appasi Narayana, alias Ramesh – Senior State Committee Member and Telangana Special Committee (TSC) member.


Both leaders were considered key strategists within the Maoist setup and had been associated with the movement for decades.

Committees and Divisions Represented

The surrendered Maoist members belonged to:

Telangana State Committee (SCM)

Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC)

Dandakaranya Division Committee (DVC)

KM Division Committee

BK-ASR Division Committee

Area Committees (ACM/PCM)

Party Supply Team, Urban LOS, and Technical Wings


These modules were previously involved in recruitment, supply logistics, technical support, and armed activities.

Weapons and Ammunition Recovered

During the surrender, police recovered a large cache of weapons including:

One AK-47 rifle

Two SLR rifles

Four .303 rifles

One G3 rifle

Several rounds of ammunition


Police stated that this recovery is a major blow to the Maoist organization’s operational capability.

Reasons Behind the Surrender

Officials said the reasons behind the mass surrender included:

Continuous police pressure in Maoist strongholds

Lack of leadership guidance within the organization

Difficult living conditions in forest zones

Confidence in the government’s rehabilitation policies

Desire to lead a peaceful life in society


Rehabilitation and Support

The Telangana Police assured that all surrendered individuals will be provided livelihood support, financial assistance, security, and integration into mainstream society under the government’s rehabilitation scheme.

Largest Surrender in Recent Times

With 37 Maoists giving up arms, including senior leaders, militia members, couriers, and party workers, police officials believe this event marks a major turning point in weakening the Maoist presence in the Telangana–Chhattisgarh region.
