Water Crisis Hits Jubilee Hills Constituency, Residents Suffer_
Hyderabad, June 1, 2024: The residents of Sri Ram Nagar, Erra Gadda, Nataraj Nagar, and Netaji Nagar in the Jubilee Hills constituency are facing a severe water crisis, with no water supply for the past 40 days. Despite the gravity of the situation, the Water Works officials have failed to take any action, prompting the residents to stage a protest at the Water Works Sub-Division office in Erra Gadda.
The residents, who are mostly poor and middle-class families, are struggling to access even a single pot of water for their daily needs. They have been forced to buy water from private tankers at exorbitant rates, which has added to their financial burden.
The protesters demanded that the Water Works officials take immediate action to restore the water supply and provide relief to the suffering residents. They also questioned the officials about their inaction despite the gravity of the situation.
The residents pointed out that even though water is available in nearby areas, the Water Works officials are not supplying it to their area. They expressed their frustration, stating that if the officials cannot provide water, they should at least allow them to access water from other sources.
The Water Works Manager, Srinivas, however, claimed that he is not authorized to supply water without the permission of the Water Works DG. He told the protesters that he cannot provide water without the DG's approval, which has further angered the residents.
The situation remains tense, with the residents vowing to continue their protest until their demands are met. They have warned the officials that if their demands are not met, they will be forced to take to the streets and stage a massive protest.
