Beware of 'Dating Scam Pubs' in Hyderabad: Victims Lose Lakhs"

Hyderabad Man Falls Victim to Dating Scam, Loses Rs 40,508
Hyderabad, June 7, 2024: A man in Hyderabad has reported being cheated by a woman he met on Tinder, who took him to a club in Galleria Mall and left him with a bill of Rs 40,508.
According to the complainant, the woman, identified as Ritika, asked to meet at Hitech City metro station and then took him to Mosh club on the fourth floor of Galleria Mall. She ordered expensive drinks, including fire shots, and made him pay the bill. The payment was made to an HDFC bank account in Delhi's Sharda Nagar branch.

The complainant realized he had been scammed when he read Google reviews about the club the next day. He suspects that the drinks served were fake and that the club was involved in the scam. He also reported that the club charged an entry fee of Rs 500 and took his details, but not the girl's.
The incident highlights the growing concern of dating scams in the city, where fraudsters target victims through dating apps and leave them with financial losses. The police have been alerted, and an investigation is underway.

2nd Incident

Another Hyderabad Man Falls Victim to Dating Scam, Loses Over Rs 20,000

Hyderabad, June 7, 2024: In a strikingly similar incident, another man in Hyderabad has reported being cheated by a woman he met on Tinder, who took him to the same club in Galleria Mall and left him with a bill of over Rs 20,000.
According to the complainant, the woman asked to meet at Hitech City metro station and then took him to Galleria Mall, where she suggested they go to the top floor and visit Mosh pub. He paid an entry fee of Rs 500 and was then presented with a bill for over Rs 20,000 after the woman ordered numerous expensive drinks, including Jager shots with Red Bull and fire shots costing Rs 2,000.

The complainant alleges that the woman did not allow him to check the menu properly and assumed the prices would be normal. He told the waiter to stop taking orders when the bill crossed Rs 20,000.

This incident bears a striking resemblance to a previous report of a dating scam in the same area, where a man was cheated of Rs 40,508. The police are investigating both incidents and suspect a larger scam operation may be at play.
